Caolan will be part of the Architectural team at HD McKay. Initially this will be to complement the replacement houses associated with defective precast concrete blocks with the active strategic plan to extend HD McKay services to full Architectural Services on other residential and small commercial projects.

Caolan, a Letterkenny native, is a Graduate of LYIT with an Ordinary Degree in Architectural Technology (2012) and subsequently completed his Honors Degree in Architectural Technology (2014) at Napier University in Edinburgh. He has since completed his MSc Architectural Technology & Building Performance (2020), also at  Napier University in Edinburgh.

Some of Caolan’s work experience includes;

CICCOZZI ARCHITECTURE – VANCOUVER, CANADA as an Architectural Graduate Designing across all phases starting from design development through to construction documents on townhouses, 6 storey timber frame and towers exceeding 48 stories. Building relationships and coordinating design decisions with engineers, consultants and contractors. Site visits included changes impacted by cost, fire safety inspections, conducting contractor reports and taking photos and key notes of progress on site.

INTELLIGENT WOOD SYSTEMS – PERTH, SCOTLAND as an Architectural Graduate Assessing the needs of clients, users and agreeing the project brief. Recognising the significance of the design stage and how it underpins the construction project. Leading the design process and coordinating detailed design information. Producing drawings and programming CNC machinery to manufacture Glulam, LVL, CLT & any timber related projects.
